Philosophy

I'm looking for a band that actually practices the principles it communicates through it's music. If you haven't read about the Lyrics of the music, note that this is related to this page.

I'm what you call a realistic idealist. Do I think world peace is possible? Sure. I have a positive view of human nature. Now is world peace going to happen tomorrow? Doubtful. I just think that people are confused on how to meet their needs in a positive way. I also think that mainstream humanity tends to use modes of thought that simply aren't effective when it comes to everyone getting along. It could take hundreds of years or thousands of years to get to the scenario where we actually live in a world of harmony. Do I buy into the philosophy that says we are all piece of God? Yes. And at some level, I realize that this could all be looked at as complete bullshit. What you believe creates your reality. What people think is "absolute truth" rarely is. It all depends on your point of view. No one does anything in their world inconsistent with their point of view.

Personally, I've spent a huge amount of time studying religion, spirituality, management books, psychology, philosophy and personal experience to understand what works and what's effective in life and human relationships. I've come to the conclusion that very few people in the general population know how to have a happy open life. I wasn't happy growing up and so was forced to ask some of the ultimate questions pretty early in life. When you start really examining death at 8, you have a tendency to "work backwards". Until I figured out my answers to "why am I here", "what's my ultimate purpose", and other questions of the sort, I couldn't really know how to guide my life. My answers don't have to match yours, but we need to be compatible. I embrace the most open flexible philosophies I can that allow for individuality and yet still allow us to all get along everyone held to them. And frankly, I've implemented a great deal of this philosophy with a great deal of success in my own life. I define success as "what's effective" for all human being in general.

Calls of "why can't we all get along" can be moving, but ultimately impotent without concrete direction on what point of view and principles need to be embraced in order for that idealistic future to come into being. So I'd like to concentrate on themes and events that people can relate to in everyday life, but present positive ways of dealing with them and the underlying attitudes that create them. I'd like to present one form of a solution. I'm not arrogant enough to think it's the only solution, but I am arrogant enough to think it's better than what the average person understands and does.

In any case, I'd like to present some of those ideas and be with people who are interested in the same thing. I will say that it's NOT mainstream religious message that I'm going for. I've found that what's effective in life can be found in many different sources, even in religion, but it takes some work to separate what works from the dogma of "shoulds". I'm into what's effective. Effecitive means

  • all inclusive. We are all one which the best part of organized religions have been saying for centuries and rarely ever practicing
  • If everyone in the world was doing it, it would "work" meaning that we wouldn't destroy the world.
  • Promotes happiness, joy and freedom in the soul, meaning you FEEL it down to your core at some level that's hard to explain.
  • the average person should be able to understand and get something out of it, but there will also be an even deeper message underneath for those at other levels.

So again, The goal of this music is to bring people to a higher level of introspective thinking such that they discover and resolve their inner conflicts and inner wars. When this occurs, outer conflicts and wars progressively disappear as well.

Now there is nothing that says you can't have fun while doing this. Joy is "godly" so to speak. Too much of religion seems to want to replace joy with duty or requirement. This is not me
